metal.ID - Functions

Spectroscopy:

The spectra are interpreted and attributed to known contamination sources by querying the database.
Characteristic fingerprints (spectra) are obtained based on their differing chemical composition. The metal.ID (LIBS) library includes the following metallic elements: Al, Ba, Ca , Cl , Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mn, Mg, Na, Ni, , Mo, P, Pb, S, Si, Sn, Ti,V, W, Zn, over 100 alloys, and much more. Alloy spectras such as brass and stainless steel can now also be reliably identified and added to the database.

Database:

The database is easily customizable and extendable. New materials can be added to the database in minutes with a few easy steps. The system determines spectrum quality and the similarity between the spectra fingerprint and the existing reference database entries.

Particle Counting Result:

The image analysis provides the particle counting result. metal.ID then selects the relevant particles for analysis, based on the user's specifications. In our example the system automatically homes in on and analyzes all particles larger than 400µm.

Image Analysis:

metal.ID combines a sequence of images into a montage. Automated particle analysis determines the particle size distribution in minutes in compliance with regulatory standards according to ISO 16232 or ISO 4407:2002.
