Particle Counting in Troubled Waters
Particle Finder determines particles size, number and shape within 15 secs
Berlin June 3th, 2005 – In co-operation with one of the leading makers of copper-plating plants and baths for the printed circuit board industry, rap.ID has developed Particle Finder. With Particle Finder the size and number as well as the shape of air-borne or liquid-borne particles of 5 microns or larger can be detected and documented within only 15 seconds.
For the first time, it is possible to filter particles from suspensions or highly colored solutions easily and reliably through the filtr.AID technology and to count them quickly using the very rugged portable Particle Finder. The shape and size analyses enable the classification of the particles and, thus, the documentation of the particle status of the respective testing solution. "Finally, our customers are able to detect increases in particle number and size directly at the production lines. In case of problems, the users can simply hand the filtr.AID membranes over to our courier. Without having to invest into a Particle Explorer, they are informed of the chemical composition of the contamination within hours," says Dr. Oliver Valet, Managing Director of rap.ID.
Particle Finder allows simple data exchange and the identification of individual particles through the (remote) particle analysis at rap.ID, Berlin. Rap.ID guarantees to transmit the results of the Raman or EDX-based particle identification to any customer worldwide within 24 hours. The Particle Finder software on the integrated laptop supports particle measuring fully compliant to 21 CFR, Part 11, relevant for the pharmaceutical industry.
The system is used on site in production facilities for printed circuit boards that have to meet the highest demands. The possibility to identify particles anywhere in the world, in particular, works as an incentive for industrial users to invest into this technology. In the pharmaceutical industry, the system is used to control foreign particles in drugs. For sample preparation for the Particle Explorer systems, Particle Finder enables the customers to document blind and particle samples quickly and securely. The system enables component manufacturers, such as car suppliers, to verify the cleanliness of their products quickly and easily.
